“I have interviewed Heather many times for articles about sustainable landscapes. She is a proven expert in her field who speaks passionately and eloquently about why we all benefit from a sustainable approach to landscape design. Heather has a gift for explaining somewhat technical concepts so that they can be easily understood by a general audience.”
Christina Kosta Procopious, Editor, Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center
“I had the pleasure of working closely with Heather, as she led the Sustainable Sites Initiative’s complex stakeholder and technical review process to develop national criteria for truly sustainable land use. On that project Heather organized the entire multi-year process, and combined the ability to rapidly grasp new technical information and identify its key elements, while managing the convoluted and sometimes contentious discussions of the technical experts, reflecting those discussions back through oversight stakeholders, and producing a succinct set of guidelines as a result that are useful, intelligible, efficient, and coordinated. Perhaps most important, while managing all this minutiae, she never lost sight of the over-riding purpose of SITES and its meaning in practical terms for people and our shared environment. The quality of the Sustainable Sites criteria and rating system owe much to her leadership."
David McDonald, Resource Conservation Planner for the City of Seattle
